White on White on White

Yesterday you saw a glimpse of our living room with the new furniture. I am so excited that we have somewhere to sit {it's been four months without} but now that we have butt rests, I feel like it's time to start moving forward with decorating the rest of the room.
As you can see, Huck and Herschel are thrilled about the new couches...
We have dark floors, dark ceilings, and a dark fireplace. So I like all the white. I've always been a white on white kind of person --sticking to muted colors if there is color at all. But right now, the living room is simply a random assortment of cheap, yet essential, finds with no personality.
I know, I know, the two critters on the floor sure do add to the overall warm and cozy feel of the place, but I need some decor people.

Here is some of my pinspiration thus far.
I like white {duh}, clean lines, symmetry, with feminine, rustic details.

Future plans for the living room:
-Paint the fireplace mantel white {shocker}
-Paint and distress the TV stand {not sure on the color yet, but the TV stand was a yard sale find by my mother-in-law, so it's in need of a little TLC} ..the accent color in my kitchen is pale blue..
- Purchase coffee table and end tables
- Hang photo collage over the couch

Although I have all these ideas, it's hard for me to commit. I have severe interior design phobia. I'm pretty certain any renovation I attempt will be horrible; therefore, keeping me from renovating at all --or even buying a picture frame for that matter...

It's an issue I'm working on.

So what do you think?? Any ideas come to mind for my space above based off of my Pinterest finds? I'd love to hear them!

On a different note, today's the last dat to enter the giveaway I'm participating in! Go to Ashley's blog for your chance to win 2 bags of Seattle's Best Coffee plus more great prizes! :)

I have an interior design phobia, too! Probably because I'm just not good at it. If you're going to stick with white furniture, I kinda like the pop that the dark fire place has :-) I LOVE the ceiling and the furbabies!

i think that your living room is such a beautiful space! do you plan to use the fireplace or put candles in it or something else? i think your "pinspiration" is right on and i can't wait to see what you come up with! one thing i love about white on white is that you can add as much or as little color as you want by using throw pillows! and, you can change them out with the season! :)

We've lived in our place for 4+ years and I've only JUST started decorating, because I was afraid that anything I did would just look awful. Now I've changed my mindset to something more along the lines of "It's not permanent, it doesn't have to stay there if it looks horrible!" - so apart from a few small holes in the walls and a few arguments with my husband (he calls me a hippie now that I like to craft!) - it's been going well!

Oh gosh, I love your style! Seems we're very similar in the "feminine rustic" department. I get a lot of inspiration from Restoration Hardware. Have you looked at any of their idea books (or website)? The ceiling in your living room is fabulous! What a fun canvas to work with. And don't feel like decorating is a hug lifetime commitment! Changing your mind and re-doing is perfectly ok. In fact, we just recently did a bunch of redecorating, and I was able to sell most of our decor on Craigslist for almost as much as I paid for it! - So don't be afraid - just jump in... :-)

I just moved in with my beau recently and we (me) have been working on home decor. I've found that for smaller accent items, Ross is the best store ever. I think you'll be less likely to hesitate with decorating when everything is under $10 and returnable. It's worth checking out. TJ Maxx and Marshalls are good too but not quite as cheap.

Oh my gosh I love your living room! I wish we had a gorgeous fireplace like that and all hardwood flooring. I love your ceiling!
I love the idea of all the white - unfortunately nothing in my house can be white with two dogs, three boys, and a boyfriend who works in a gravel pit. :D

I think its perfect just the way it is! I love the simplicity and the fireplace, so homely.

And of course, the exposed wood of the roof is just stunning!
