Help! Bridesmaids Dresses

So, the realization hit me that I'm getting married in November.
Not July,
or August
but November.

Seattle, you are cold in November.
(and all year round)

I originally wanted my bridesmaid to wear mismatched neutral dresses, hoping they'd each pick something out individually that they really loved and could potentially wear again because let's face it, when us brides pick out the bridesmaids dresses ourself and say "Oh, for sure, like they can TOTALLY re-wear this," they really won't re-wear it will they?...because more than likely it's an ugly dress.

(Yes, the truth oftentimes stings.)

Anyways, after looking at semi-cute bridesmaid dresses I gave up. I just want them to wear something they like. Easy peasy. I decided on choosing a neutral color palette and letting them choose color, style, fit, price range, etc. that best suits them. Something similar to these pinterest finds.
Ahh, and then I remembered --November is cold.
and some of my ladies may prefer to wear long dresses that are a) warmer and b) don't show off their blindingly white November legs. Maybe something like this.
So what do you think? I feel like other than the color palette, the bridesmaids need to also have the same length dresses. They can still be mismatched --but similarities in length and color coordination are important, right? or no?

(Wait say that again? Oh yes, I should probably ask my bridesmaids myself. You're so smart. I'll go do that right now.)

**UPDATE: If you're stopping by from Pinterest and would like to see the bridesmaid dresses I decided on, go here!

GASP! The gorgeousness of those Pinterest finds is stunning. What a beautiful look.

I know! Have a destination wedding in Miami and get your tan on.

Personally, I love the modern look of the shorter length, but long is elegant and sophisticated...and would help cut the winter breeze, know what I mean?

Um. Yeah. Ask your bridesmaids. Maybe they can just add leg warmers??? (Classy.)

Yeeeeah ... those short looks are super adorable, but it will be on the chilly side.

With your venue they'll be in and out of doors all day too, right?

So, I think more of a maxi length might be good. Unless you pick out a pair of tights that they all wear with their short ones, and little boleros or something. Which might be complicated.

I love all the dresses, but since it'll be cold, I'd go with the long. They are still super cute!

I love this look. Mismatch is very cute and relaxed. Hope it works out for you! Good luck!

I think you've got the right idea - all the same length, but different colors from the same palate. It will be so pretty!

I so agree with your idea of mismatched matching dresses that they could wear again. But don't you guys in America have like really great indoor heating?

If yes, let them wear short dresses.
And eat cake.

I think the rule is there aren't any rules any more. As long as you're happy and your bridesmaids are comfortable, I say go for it. I love the last dresses. The long flowy tanish ones? Awesome.

I love the long dresses! And, if they want, they can always shorten them after the wedding.

Maybe since its cold they can wear a little jacket with them? Go to www.luluabroad.com and see her little bolero jacket she wore with her dress. Actually look at her whole wedding. Stunning.

I think you're right about length. But love the idea of everyone picking their likes. It's boring seeing the bridal party all dressed the same. Not every dress fits the style of every individual. This way they can wear something that flatters them.

Love the color palate. Can't wait to see pictures.
