Huckleberry is a pretty lucky pup. While most dogs have to be in a crate all day while their humans are at work, he has the luxury of being in a spacious, three car garage equipped with his very own bed, heat lamp, and a surplus of bones. We even leave the side door open so he can explore the yard and chase the 3 cocker spaniels next door up and down the fence line until his little heart's content.
One lucky pup, I tell ya!
But I suppose even wide open spaces can get boring, so to pass the time, Huck decided to take a cushion off the love seat in the garage outside for his chewing pleasure...in the rain.
Didn't even bother to hide the evidence.
Funny how dogs know when they've done something wrong, and it's even more funny that they know just the face to offer as an apology.
Apology accepted, Huck. You're a goood boy! Want some peanut butter?!?
Yep, that's usually how it goes.
And yes, Huck is still suffering from a case of snow nose. That's why his nose is pink and not black in these photos. I promise he is not sick! His nose will turn back to normal in the Spring once the weather warms up a bit :)
So tell me, what material things has your pup destroyed?

How can you be mad at a sweet looking pup like that?
Sunglasses... My dog, April, loves sunglasses. If you leave them out they will be in four pieces or more by the time you get home!
You're so right about how they know when they have done something wrong!
Our new puppy hasn't totally *destroyed* anything, but he often ignores his $6 - $9 toys and goes for...a piece of an old t-shirt.
Awe poor Huck. Bosley hasn't destroyed anything huge. Only a throw pillow, a sheet (that we used to cover his crate) and a little bit of the carpet :)
Daisy, our Bull Mastiff who passed away last spring ate an entire couch and some table legs. Plus assorted shoes (always the left shoe), many remotes, and lots of other stuff I am not recalling at them moment.
Huck is to cute to be mad at!
Hugs!
Kara
this is the cutest thing ever. i love their faces when they know they are in trouble...it's like they know they did something wrong, but they also know that the sweet face they give us will most likely clear them of all charges. haha. Dogs are the best!
Goldens have the absolute best guilty/please forgive me face. It totally melts your heart. Which is probably why I've forgiven mine for eating my Garmin GPS watch and key remote to my car. Why does she love small electronics?
Haha are they all alike? Lily has the look mastered - Gracie just doesnt seem to care...
We are starting to leave them out opf thier room when we are away and if I am being honest it haunts me all day long... all I remember is the horror puppy days... lol
For the longest time Miley would destroy any dog bed we got for her - it was awful! Thankfully she's stopped doing that now (and I make her dog beds so I would be a little offended! Ha)
Other than that she's pretty good while we're gone - she gets full rein of the house (we just have to place our couch cushions on the edge of the couch otherwise we get home and they are COVERED with white dog hair). Before we moved the cushions we would just try to discipline her when we got home. She knew she was in trouble, though - she would run and hide from us! In the pantry, basement, our closet...anywhere! It was too funny and I felt bad (for no logical reason) so now we just take a few extra seconds and move the cushions :)
Oh, Huck! My dog has eaten too many things to list. The one that won her a forever ticket into her crate while we're gone though was my $1500 wedding album. I felt SICK. She suffers from separation anxiety to the max, though, so she feels safer in her crate anyway. That face, though! They sure know when to pull that one out!
He has such a sweet sad face! Chloe destroyed all the baseboards in our house when she was a puppy - we still haven't gotten around to replacing them! She also chewed video game controllers, a few pairs of leather gloves, my favourite pair of boots - and she still eats socks if she finds any laying around the house. (I think sometimes she actually takes them out of the laundry basket!) She more or less outgrew the rest - now if she wants to chew something she knows isn't hers (like one of Topher's toys) she'll just lie on the floor and stare at it and whine for awhile until we tell her no and move it away from her.
That apology face really is way to cute!
Our dogs (2 labs) get to stay in the yard all day. But if we come home and they DON'T greet us at the gate? We know they've gotten into something they are not supposed to. Little punks!
Omg such a cute apology face! My pup always knows when she's in trouble because she tucks her tail and gives me the most pathetic look ever!
I didn't know about the "snow nose"! And yes Hurley boy frequently digs up holes in the yard ... including some fun sprinkler heads. Because you know, those are super fun when a gigantic mud puddle from a leaky line are the end result!
Aww, I would melt at that face immediately too! My Pippa destroyed some high heels once, no big deal. But her thing is getting into things that could possibly hurt her! She definitely chewed the end off a bottle of ibuprofen and had to spend three days at the vet once! They had to give her charcoal to soak the ibuprofen from her stomach and she was on an IV. I was devastated! :(
Huck, Huck, Huck.
Why are you so cute? The answer is obvious...you're a Golden.
Why are you so bad? You're a Golden.
Why are you so good? You're a Golden.
Why can't anyone be upset with you? You know the drill...
Sasha has discovered toilet water and toilet paper. Allow me to clarify: clean toilet paper that my kids drop on the floor. Don't ask. If the bathroom door is just slightly ajar, she shoves her nose in and opens it up. "Baaaaad girl. I love you." :) (Let's not forget how she ate her harness, metal included and ended up having major surgery.)
Great post. We all love Huck. :)
P.S. What is snow nose? It's 81 here. (Don't hate me.) ;)
Huck is so cute! And that look! I am all too familiar with that look:)
My parents Golden, Rudy, would get into trouble and often hide from the evidence. One time, I guess my mom left out pizza on a plate on the kitchen table before her and my dad went out. When they came home the plate was in a bajillion pieces on the floor but no pizza or Rudy to be found. However, there was a little purple bow (from getting his hair groomed the day before) right in the middle of the mess. Wouldn't need Sherlock to find the culprit. haha
Aww. SO sweet. our golden, Chara, also has snow nose@ this is the first year I noticed! I had to look up what was going on with her nose! Now that i know I think it's adorable! New Follower from Lost in Travels! So happy to have found your blog!
