Round 'n Round

Huck is easy to please. All he needs to make him happy is hotdogs, an abundance of sticks, and another dog to play with. When I moved out of my lake home rental he lost his friend Amigo. Luckily, our new home is beside the friendliest of neighbors who have 3 dogs! I think Huck and Missy are dating. Either way, he has a blast when she comes over for a visit! :) He likes to play the same game he played with Amigo. It's pretty much tag with sticks.

**Wedding Update: Steven and I have another premarital counseling session today. {Maybe a little more on that tomorrow} Time is quickly ticking away with the wedding only 18 days out! Thankfully, there isn't too much to be done until then. Things really fell into place this past weekend and I feel as though we're in the home stretch! So excited!!! :)

oh, Hi Grandma! it's your grandpup, Huck!

i have a little secret to share with you. mom says I can trust you with this sort of thing...

well, when I was younger I used to be afraid of the water!

i mean..it's wet. and cold. 

and there are no hotdogs in there --so really, what's the point?

but now I'm all grown up! {mommy says I'm 8 months old!} and I'm afraid of NUTTIN!

i love to swim!

i told mommy to take a few pictures for proof of my bravery.

so maybe, when you come visit me, you can throw hot dogs in the water..

and I'll go swim to them and catch them and eat them and love you.

while swimming I found a toy boat.

mommy threw the boat to me and I caught it in my mouth!

Because I'm brave.

{see, I use to be afraid to catch things and would run when mom tossed them to me}

but not anymore! I'm 8 months old! And fear NUTTIN!

but then...something terrible happened.

dad thought since I have been so brave lately that I might want to go for a boat ride.

well, he put me in the boat.

i may have been a little afraid...just a smudge though.

a very, very tiny bit of afraid.

like one bite of a hotdog kind of tiny.

when daddy took me out of the boat I ran inside and covered my face...

not my proudest moment.

but you know what would make me feel a lot better??

....

a hotdog.

Busted.

Huckleberry's new favorite destructive activity has been to dig up the potted plants my landlord has on the back deck. She has A LOT of potted plants, and keeping Huck away from them has taken up the majority of my days lately. He knows he is not suppose to dig in the pots, so when I went outside to check on him and saw these images below, of course, he knew a "Bad dog! You leave it!" and swat on the nose would ensue.

When Huck heard me approach, he quickly turned his back towards me. He was sitting on the end of the deck, facing the water. I said his name...he ignored me...I said his name again...he was as still as a statue. I walked towards him and tried to get him to face me...nope, he kept turning his body so I couldn't see his face!...Finally, I clasped his collar to get him to stop avoiding me, he slowly turns his face towards mine and this is what I see.

SO GUILTY! Of course, I had to snap a picture. Needless to say, the puppy face still holds it's power over me (I mean just look at that!). There was no "bad dog" or swat on the nose.  

My dog has me whipped.

At the Lake House

This past weekend was a dreary one. It rained, snowed, or hailed pretty much all weekend! Everyday was dark. Yet I managed to make the best of things whilst drinking hot coco, watching the Walking Dead season finale, trying out a new recipe, and doing some serious tidying up around mi casa! 

 Nothing better than a good book and a rainy day.

 I love this canvas painting above my bed. Unfortunately it's not mine, it came with the rental.

Snow Day.

I woke up this morning to this!

Lovely, isn't it? Technically, this is my first adult snow day. No work for me. Okay, I actually still have to work..but from home! Which means I can edit away in my bright red bathrobe with my puppy laying at my feet. Huckleberry is overjoyed to say the least.

To top it off, Steven came over this morning before I was out of bed to start a fire for me in my little lake home! {Awww!} It's not that I CAN'T start a fire on my own, it's just that...

...well I can't. I quit girl scouts in 1st grade because my brothers teased me so much and fire starting is simply just not one of my skills. I'm inept. But I still survive.

As far as wedding planning goes, I'm still venue hunting. I could always just get married in a swanky hotel in Seattle this November. That's just not what I always pictured my wedding day to be like though. My mom is now searching for affordable venues in the WV/VA area as well. It would be hard to get married back on the east coast. I don't think I would like not feeling in control of my wedding, ya know? But it is still really pretty in VA that time of year, so who knows, if the perfect place presents itself, it is definitely an option.

But today, I am going to read, edit, sip coffee, and enjoyed the lovely view from my "office" window!

Christmas At The Lake House

Here's some photos of the Christmas decor at my little lake house. I didn't want to spend too much money on it since I'll be hopping on a plane tomorrow for West Virginia, but having no decorations, even when you aren't there to enjoy them, just seemed depressing. Plus, Huckleberry was definitely amused by all the festivities. His tail was wagging at lightening fast speed as he sniffed the presents under the tree! He knows there is some bone goodness inside! {and a squeaky, squishy football}.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas! I know I will!

Home Sweet Home

Ready for the grand tour of my cute, little country cottage!? (Excuse the picture quality. My camera is cheap.)

This is my front (back) yard..idk. Beautiful, large deck with plenty of sitting room and a BBQ to the right side. My home is surrounded by cedar trees which gives it an amazing smell!

This is my beautiful dock where I go fishing (yeah right!). But seriously, it's a super nice dock. In front you can see my fire pit and that blue thing to the left is my paddle boat! To the far left (not in this picture) is my very own water slide as well!

Let's go inside...This is my bedroom! The bedroom has 2 dressers and a large closet as well. The closet has full length mirror doors (which we all know is totally necessary). 

The living room area! Yes, that is a 42 in flat screen TV that Steven bought me because watching ESPN on any smaller sized television would be a sin. I have a cute little wood stove that heats my 900 sq. ft home quickly and an ugly floral chair. But don't judge. The house came completely furnished!

This is my dinning room/office area. The corner desk (behind the kitchen table) overlooks the lake!
