Wedding Favors

Remember last Friday I told you I'd be meeting my engagement/wedding photographer this weekend?

Well, I did.

And she was A-MAZE-ING!

So sweet and bubbly! I felt like we had known each other all our lives.

Very, very excited she's our photographer.

Now that that HUGE decision is over with --I've been thinking about wedding favors. The wedding favors are something that's important to me. It's the only material thing our guests will be leaving the wedding with. It's a bride and grooms way of saying a simple thanks. Thanks for taking the time to be present on our big day (even though {let's be honest} our wedding was probably an inconvenience for you!). And since many of our guests will be traveling 3,000 miles to attend, I don't mind taking the time and effort to give them more personal touches in the wedding favors, rather then simply buying silly, thoughtless trinkets in bulk. 

So I have a few ideas...

1) Coffee. Steven and I are both HUGE coffee drinkers. The amount of caffeine we consume on a day-to-day basis is disturbing. ANNNND, Seattle is known for their coffee obsession. This is where Starbucks originated, FYI. I was thinking we could fill small burlap bags with coffee beans and make homemade tags that say: 

"The Perfect Blend"

2) Homemade Apple or Pumpkin Butter. Since our wedding will be in the fall, I thought apple or pumpkin butter would be the perfect seasonal treat! We could make the recipe ourselves, can it in mason jars, and pretty up the mason jars with some burlap and twine. Like the photo above, we could make our own labels to personalize the treats!

3) Homemade Candles. I found a tutorial on Pinterest for making your own candles, and when I told my mom about the idea she said she's actually done her own before and it's simple and fun! In mason jars, we could make blue scented candles (blue is our accent color), and then pretty up the mason jars with burlap, twine, and a personalized label!

I like all 3 options because it's something are guests can actually use rather then simply putting the favor in a drawer when they get home and forgetting all about it until Spring cleaning comes around!

Seriously, THANK GOD it's Friday. This week has been rough. You know, the whole sick thing with me and that darn pup. I think I need to bleach my floors --and every other thing that Huck and I came in contact with this past week. 

But I am very excited for my weekend plans! Tomorrow afternoon I am meeting with the lady who's taking our engagement and wedding photos! We're having a cup of coffee and discussing my vision for the engagement shoot along with the current packages she has to offer. I am SO EXCITED to get some wedding things accomplished and mark them off my ever growing to-do list!

And then comes Sunday... Really, you don't even need to get me started. It's. The. Superbowl. And my GIANTS are playing! {FYI, my entire family is originally from New York and I grew up with a father and 2 older brothers who are football fanatics} Steven tried all season to convert me into a Seahawks fan, but really? The Seahawks? That's just silly...

PLUS, if I liked any other team than the Giants my family might disown me...

Just saying.

And, just because I feel like I need to spruce up this post a bit, I'm going to leave you with some cute photos of when Steven and I went to his grandparents cabin. Huck {okay, and me} saw elk for the very first time and it was pretty exciting! They got SO close!

Puppy Blues

Not only have I been sick this week, but poor Huckleberry hasn't been feeling very well either. This means me on my hands and knees scrubbing diarrhea out of the carpet while I try not to gag {yeah, go ahead. be jealous of my life.} I'll leave the rest of the details out, just know it wasn't pretty.

But sick or not --no wet pups are allowed on my carpet!

 And this obviously makes Huck very sad...

 So he just looks at me like this...

And then, of course, he gets to go lay on the carpet. 

Yep, right in front of the fireplace so he can be all snuggly and warm while drying off. I know, I know...my dog has me trained.

But thankfully, there is one rule I'm determined to keep, and that is that absolutely no WET pups are allowed to be cuddled!
