There is nothing cuter than a patient Huckleberry waiting to open his gift and eat his treats.
We have been sending Huck to daycare every Wednesday for the past 6 months. It's only about a 5 minute drive from our house and the lady who runs it, MaryEllen, is probably one of the sweetest people I've ever met.She runs the daycare right out of her home. The pups have a continuous supply of fresh, running water, lots of doggie beds and toys, and even their own sand pit for digging! It truly is puppy paradise.
In the past, Steven and I had a terrible experience sending Huck to daycare and I vowed never to take him to one again (he came home limping and covered in urine), but when I heard about MaryEllen's home right down the street from ours and read her reviews, I decided I owed it to Huck to go check the place out. It was probably the best decision I've ever made as a pet owner.
If you ask Huck if he wants to go to daycare, he'll simply go into a frenzy and start chasing his tail and jumping around. And then he goes and lays behind the car to ensure you don't leave without him! He loves daycare, the furry friends he's made there, and he especially loves MaryEllen.
This past Wednesday they had a Christmas party at daycare and Huck came home with homemade puppy treats, a wrapped Christmas gift, and a festive scarf!
Seriously, if you aren't dying of cuteness right now you're not human.
His gift didn't stick around for very long, but he enjoyed destroying it.
And I enjoy knowing he is a well socialized and worn out pup on Wednesday nights!
Any other crazy fur mamas out there who send their 4 legged children to daycare??
Oh yeah, if you're reading this congrats on surviving the end of the world ;)

So cute! And, we still have five more hours before "we all die".
huck is such a cutie! i have thought about doggie daycare...one day a week sounds pretty good. our pup could definitely use the energy release! i'll have to look into those in our area!
Oh...what a fantastically adorable job MaryEllen has! :)
I'm glad you found him a good doggie daycare.
Doggie daycare would be great for Chloe - I'll have to look into that, even if it's only one day a week! She has SO much energy and my pregnant self can't take her for runs like I used to!
That is sooooo sweet! We used to take my pup to daycare but it got really expensive! Now I have a roommate with a dog though so it's kind of like we have our own built in daycare haha.
Ahhh Huck, you are so handsome!!!
We haven't sent Holly to daycare, just because of the expense of it, but we board her when we travel and though she's generally not friendly with other dogs, she has loved it there and has {quite a few} boyfriends ;)
Turns out, she's just bad with other dogs when she's trying to protect us. Without us, she's a free bird! Albeit a bit promiscuous...
Oh gosh, it sounds like you found the jewel of a dog-care facility. We used to send our family dog to a boarding place when we would go on vacation and each time we came home he would be so timid, barking and peeing in the house. We now just keep him at the vet when we go and he is much happier. It makes me sad to think that some places where we leave our loved ones are mistreated.

That is SO cute. I wish we had a doggie daycare closer to us - it'd be awesome to take our dog there once a week. To socialize, & play, & run off some steam. & the tired pup at the end of the day certainly would be nice too! ;)
awh huckleberry!
what a gorgeous pup and name :)
I am loving your blog - its simply gorgeous
seriously, everything about it!

I can't even stand Huckleberry's cuteness! I take Casey to daycare once in awhile; he would go to a small, private daycare when I had my last job which he loved, it sounds a lot like the one you take Huckleberry to. Now he goes to a larger franchise, but the owners and people who work there are great and he still loves to run around with his friends!
Wow, look at Huck just sitting next to his treats in that first picture. you can see how anxious he is. :)
I'm too paranoid to send my doggie-angel to daycare, but she visits my parents for a couple of days at a time, about twice a month. It gives her a chance to visit with the family dog.
I would love to send Mia to doggy daycare but I don't think there are any around us.
So cute! My parents don't live far from us so our dog Rylee goes there everyday to play with her friends and loves it. Hope Huck enjoyed his Christmas treats :)
This melts my heart. He is SO cute.
Love the weekly daycare idea! and love it so much better than a chain brand daycare center! and bless her sweet heart for having a party for the pooches!! adorable!
Aw Huck is so cute! That is so sweet that you guys got presents for him :D
McCoy totally goes to daycare. But because I'm so picky he is on his 3rd one. In my defense he came home from one with a torn ear and soaked in blood (I totally know dogs can play rough, but I was mostly mad they handed him over and didn't say anything). I wished I could find a nice local place to take him to but most all of them around Milwaukee are chains. Which is okay, we take him to a Central Bark I really like. He used to go to one with webcams which was CRAZY AWESOME but that's the one where his ear got mangled so no more webcams, plus I spent way too much of my day watching him lol. Beautiful thing about Goldens. No separation anxiety and no worries of aggression. Easy peasy those dogs :)
